[OOC] Rules and FAQ
Here are some questions I'm preemptively guessing some people will ask and I will try to add more as I think of them (or as others ask them).
RULES
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I want to play here! Can I?
This is not an app-into game. This is currently an invite-only musebox. Someone playing in the game has to invite you to play. If you don't have an invite, but are still interested, just send me a private message to this journal to let me know you want to join in and why. I'll give you one. Then you're good to go.
What Characters can I play here? Do they have to have powers?
This is a musebox for original characters who are designed to exist in this universe. If you want to create an AU of an OC you already have to play them here, go right ahead! It’s your character, you can do what you want with them.
Do not think that you can’t play normal humans in this world either! You character just has to exist in this universe, they do not have to have powers (you can be normal Joe McAgent, an average guy working for DELTA or John Chemistry, a scientist doing research for MARKO if you’d like) or involved in the different organizations that have been described already. You can make up your own own! Just be aware that you need to provide detailed information because once you create an organization for this universe, other people may want to play characters from it. So if you decide to create things to fit into this universe please provide a description with all important details on your character's journal.
Well, what about if I play a Super, but don't want to be a part of any organization?
That is perfectly okay! Just like there are groups of Supers working together, it is very possible to have characters that work solo (or with a partner, if that's how you want to play it). Be aware that D.E.L.T.A. and M.A.R.K.O. like to track and monitor unregistered Supers, particularly those that put themselves in the limelight. So you can play someone who is completely unaffiliated if you want, but keep in mind that these organizations (and maybe others) might be looking for your character if they aren't the type to stay under their radar.
What if I want to play a celebrity Super?
Go right ahead! Just as a lot of people around the world are wary of Supers, some countries are a lot more welcoming of them. And then there is also Hollywood which will turn anything into a moneymaking project. Your character can be an actor/actress/performer/reality TV celeb/etc. Really you can do just about anything you want. Just be aware that if your character is a celebrity that is a known Super, that means he or she has officially registered as one.
How does time work here?
Time is subjective. This is a fun musebox game, not a real one. Anyone who starts a post should include a specific date (such as Month/Day), as to keep track of how things fit together chronologically. Other than that, time works however people it want it to. To create an easier way to recognize dates: once the first official post is made into the community, all other posts MUST occur after that date, unless they are specifically marked as being “backdated.” Please keep this in mind so that you’re not trying to have things occur on the same day that would require the same character to be on different sides of the world at once. If it will make it easier for you to understand, the game is essentially a 1:1, but you can forward and backdate as needed/desired.
How does network posting work?
There is no “open network” like what is used in most games. Technology has advanced to the point that Audio and Video communication through phones and other technology is easily possible, but the more advanced organizations (such as DELTA) can use them in mass conferencing formats if they choose. The average person will only be able to send audio/video/text to people who are on their contact list of their phone or who they are contacting on programs like SNYPER, a commonly used video-chat program (which may just so happen to be a slightly more advanced version of SKYPE that you can also use from your phone and can connect to multiple people, but must be selected manually).
I’m going to be a little easy on how you label or make posts, but please make it obvious who the post is directed toward (as in, who can or cannot see it), and what kind of post it is. It can be an action post, an audio/video call, or even a post to a specific online forum (which can have audio or video, but can only be replied to with text and recorded videos). If you want to go all out and create forums and links to webpages/videos/etc, feel free! Just make sure everything is clear and obvious to anyone in the audience.
I want to play a clone, twin, or an alternate universe double of a character already in the game! How do I do that?
Before doing that, you must first ask permission. All membership requests must be approved by me and this is definitely one. Even if the characters are doubles from alternate universes, they must be approved because there would have to be a reason that this character found their way into this universe. WHICH IS POSSIBLE. Time/Space/Dimension/Universe travel is not impossible in this universe! You just have to sell your idea for how it would make sense in the game, get permission from the original player of the character (this seems important for playing a twin, I would think), and you’re good to go.
What kind of PB am I allowed to choose for my character?
We know already that all characters in this game are either original characters or AU characters that have been designed to fit into this universe. So I am lax about what PBs will be chosen by players for their characters. At the same time, I would like to encourage people to not choose extremely obvious and visible PBs if only to prevent confusion. Please use your own common sense and discretion when choosing a PB.
No two players can use the same PB unless there is a specific reason for it (aka, clone, twin, AU double, etc). PBs are first come first serve. If someone is using a PB of an actor, but someone else wants to use icons of that actor that are so extremely different in looks so they would not automatically assumed to be the same person, then that will be allowed (example: Tom Cruise in Interview with a Vampire looks very different from how he looks in Mission Impossible III). In the same vein,, if someone uses manga/comic book scans and colors or alters the character so they look very different from the way the character in the manga/comic, then they are considered different, as well.
RULES
- The Do Not Be An Asshat Rule: This is a musebox, and I want everyone to have fun, but for that to happen, we all need to be kind, polite, willing to listen and compromise, and be willing to talk about any concerns we have. Rudeness, harassment, godmoding, info-moding/meta-gaming and anything that is commonly DO NOT DO THIS for an RP? Don’t do it here either.
- Label your posts: Posts should include the date [month/day], whether it is action/voice/video/text and whether it is open network/closed. Voice posts can only be directed to individual people or onto specific networks (such as an D.E.L.T.A. agent can make an open voice post to the D.E.L.T.A. network. Voice/Video cannot be directed to everyone within the game. Action posts should also include the location(s). Text posts can be emails, letters, notes, etc, but the default will be email unless stated otherwise.
- Warnings as needed: Any posts including sex, extreme violence, or other possibly disturbing themes should include a clear warning in the main post.
